The 2016/17 Premier League season has completed its third round of fixtures and Sport360 looks at the best performers who excelled over the weekend.
Here are the top five players from the third week as voted by you using valorafutbol.com‘s ranking system.
1) JAMIE VARDY – LEICESTER CITY
Finally, Jamie Vardy got back to what he’s best at this weekend. Chasing down a ball over the top, he showed great pace to get clean through after staying onside, proceeded to hold off the defender and scored with a trademark thumping finish that left the keeper with no chance.
2) DANIEL DRINKWATER – LEICESTER CITY
The midfielder has been his reliable self even at the start of this season which hasn’t been the best for the defending champions. His instinctive pass that sent Vardy through on goal was fantastic, and a feature of Leicester’s play that made them successful last season.
3) EDEN HAZARD – CHELSEA
Form is temporary, class is permanent. Eden Hazard started to look like his old self towards the end of the last campaign with his sublime goal against Tottenham proving as much. After a decent Euro 2016 as well, the Belgian appears to be back to his best under Antonio Conte and his goal against Burnley showed how confident he is at the moment, having ran straight through the middle before scoring from outside the area.
4) KEVIN DE BRUYNE – MANCHESTER CITY
With every passing game (see what I did there?), Pep Guardiola’s possession oriented system is being implemented more and more at Manchester City. Against West Ham United, they played some slick stuff and De Bruyne was at the heart of it. His perfect delivery from a set-piece saw Fernandinho head in City’s second.
5) MARCUS RASHFORD – MANCHESTER UNITED
The teenage sensation may have only made a late introduction away to Hull City but made a huge impact. He terrorised defenders with his energy and direct running. He was alert enough to make a swift run into the six-yard box to tap in the winner after some great work from Wayne Rooney.
