Arsene Wenger took a punt by signing a highly-rated but unknown youngster in the name of Thierry Henry for £11million on this day 17 years ago and he turned out to be a fantastic addition for the Gunners.

After initially struggling, Henry found his confidence and most importantly his scoring touch as he caused havoc for the opposition.

Scoring 174 goals in 254 appearances, he went on to claim two Premier League titles, three FA Cups and two Community Shields in London and was part of the ‘Invincibles’ team that went the whole league season unbeaten in 2003-04.

The legend later returned to the Emirates Stadium for a short stint in 2012.
