Cristiano Ronaldo will not play for Portugal until 2019, according to Portuguese sports newspaper O Jogo.

The Juventus star will reportedly miss upcoming matches against Italy, Poland and Scotland, which are scheduled to take place over the international breaks in October and November this year.

Ronaldo, 33, is the leading European international goalscorer of all time having netted 85 times in 154 appearances for A Selecao das Quinas.

The Real Madrid icon missed Nations League fixtures in September as he adapted to his big-money move to Turin while he last represented his country at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, in which Portugal lost to Uruguay at the last-16 hurdle.

The exact date of Ronaldo’s impending return to international football is not yet known while no specific reasons have been given for his expected absence.
