Cristiano Ronaldo has made an “irreversible” decision to quit Real Madrid this summer after being angered by a perceived breaking of promises about a new contract, according to reports.

Ronaldo, 33, announced within moments of victory against Liverpool in last month’s Champions League final that “it’s been great being” at Los Blancos.

Portuguese newspaper Record have stated this decision follows proclamations made to his agent, Jorge Mendes, by general manager Jose Angel Sanchez that the Portugal superstar’s demands will not be met during renewal talks. His relationship with president Florentino Perez is also alleged to have broken down.

Ronaldo’s current deal is scheduled to expire in June 2021.
