Cristiano Ronaldo apparently told Real Madrid team-mates that he wanted to leave the Bernabeu this summer ahead of last month’s Champions League final against Liverpool.

The report, by Marca, reveals that the 33-year-old informed his colleagues that he could be leaving the Whites before the showpiece.

Ronaldo sent transfer news speculation into overdrive after Real’s success over the Merseysiders in Kiev, when he commented: “It has been very nice playing at Real Madrid. In the coming days I’ll give an answer to my fans, they’ve always been at my side.”

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner has yet to comment further on his future since then and is due to link-up with the Portugal squad ahead of the World Cup in Lisbon on Monday.
