Lionel Messi has warned his Argentina team-mates that tonight’s clash with Uruguay is a must-win encounter after their stumbling draw with Paraguay.

– Copa: Argentina held by last-minute Paraguay goal
– Copa: Neymar inspires Brazil to late Peru win
– Copa: Chile denied by late Mexico eqauliser

The tournament favourites were left stunned on Saturday after they let a 2-0 lead slip as Paraguay snatched a 2-2 draw with a lastgasp equaliser in Group B.

Messi, who had a hand in one of Argentina’s goals before scoring the second from the penalty spot, could not hide his fury after what looked like being a comfortable opening victory ended in a draw.

“To be leading 2-0 and to end up with a draw makes me angry,” the Argentina captain said.

“Looking at it now, you have to say that the Uruguay match is one we absolutely have to win.”

Defending champions Uruguay opened their campaign with a lacklustre 1-0 win over Jamaica on Saturday.

But the Reggae Boyz head coach Winfried Schafer insists they can still take the Copa America by storm.

They face Paraguay tonight and German coach Schafer believes his side can be the tournament’s surprise package.

“No one gave us a shot, everyone thought Jamaica wouldn’t win a match,” he said. “But now everyone knows we can win. We have to believe in ourselves.”
