Former Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero scored during Wednesday’s long-delayed unofficial Barcelona debut.

Aguero, 33, had been sidelined by a calf injury suffered just before this season’s kick-off. The 2021 Copa America winner with Argentina inked a two-year deal in May, arriving on a free transfer to end a decade-long attachment to the Sky Blues.

The ex-Atletico Madrid star enjoyed a gentle – and productive – return to action this midweek. He was hooked soon after netting during a 30-minute cameo versus lower-league UE Cornella which ended in a 2-2 draw at Barca’s training ground.

Aguero will hope to be available to make his competitive bow against Valencia in La Liga on Sunday.
