Barcelona’s breakout academy product of the season, Carles Alena, has admitted that he would prefer win the title in front of their fans at Camp Nou – rather than hope for Atletico Madrid to lose on Wednesday evening.

The Catalans can wrap up the title with a win over Levante back in Catalonia on Saturday, but the celebrations will start early if Atletico lose to Valencia.

The midfielder would welcome such a scenario, but ideally would want to seal the deal on the weekend – having helped Barca accelerate towards La Liga’s trophy with a goal-scoring performance over Alaves on Tuesday.

“Now we wait on Atletico,” he said after the 2-0 win over Alaves, according to Marca.

“Or, in another case, we can wait until Saturday to win it with our fans.

“I’d prefer to win it on Saturday at home and celebrate it with our supporters, although if we win it before then then it will be welcome.

“We deserve this league title, we’ve been the best.”
