Barcelona defender Gerard Pique insisted that they must ensure their feet remain on the ground despite a vantage point in the league table.

On Saturday, Atletico Madrid – Barelona’s closest competitors – suffered a 2-0 defeat away to Athletic Bilbao. A thumping 4-1 win over Real Betis meant that the Catalan side are now 10 points clear at the top.

The Spain international maintained that the season is far from over and Barcelona also have the Champions League to take care of next month.

“It’s good that people are excited, but we have to keep our feet on the ground,” Pique confirmed in the mixed zone, according to Marca.

“LaLiga Santander is moving closer.

“However, the Champions League has been difficult for us at the quarter-final stage.”

Pique did admit that the huge gap at the top is crucial, but stated that the team will continue to focus on one match at a time.

“We’ve taken three very important points,” he stated.

“The gap between us and the others is very important, but there is still a lot of football to play.

“We are feeling good, but we must continue to approach things match by match.”
