Former Barcelona player Yaya Toure believes that Mexico defender Rafa Marquez was “10 times better” than Gerard Pique is.

The Ivory Coast international played with the Mexican at Barcelona for a brief period. Marquez was a Barcelona player for seven years from 2003 to 2010.

Toure claims that Marquez is one of the toughest defenders he knew.

“He’s one of the toughest defenders I know,” Toure said to Sky Sports. “But having not played in England, people don’t remember him.

“Go on YouTube and watch him play, he was 10 times better than Pique.

“They can be similar, but I’m telling you he was ten times better, I fell in love with how good he was.”

The former Manchester City man came up with a “Best XI” of players he has played alongside.

The line up goes as follows: Ederson, Vincent Kompany, Carles Puyol, Marquez, Andres Iniesta, Leroy Sane, Thierry Henry, Lionel Messi, Sergio Aguero, Samuel Eto’o and Didier Drogba.
