Chelsea target Denis Suarez keen to fight for Barcelona place

Denis Suarez is determined to fight for his place at Barcelona despite his playing time at the club having been limited this season, according to Goal.

The midfielder has yet to make a La Liga appearance this season, a state of affairs that has led to speculation that he could leave in the transfer window. Chelsea are among the clubs said to be monitoring the situation, having reportedly attempted to sign him in the summer.

Suarez has seen his route to the first team blocked by the summer arrivals of Arthur and Arturo Vidal after spending the early part of the season recovering from an injury suffered during preseason.

Barcelona’s management view Suarez as a more attacking player, which also puts him in competition with the likes of Malcom and Munir El Haddadi as backup to the club’s star-studded front line.

The 24-year-old has roughly 18 months left on his current contract.
