There is a growing confidence at Barcelona that coveted teenager Matthijs de Ligt will reject a host of richer offers and join them next summer, according to reports.

De Ligt, 19, has emerged as one of the biggest names on the market because of his exceptional displays for Ajax and the Netherlands. A price tag of, at least, €60 million has been quoted.

SPORT have stated that the centre-back has received overtures from Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich, Juventus and Real Madrid. But after a meeting between himself and agent Mino Raiola and Barca’s technical staff Eric Abidal and Ramon Planes, the Catalans hope he is their preferred pick.

De Ligt believes his style of play is best suited to the La Liga champions.

There had been doubts, however about a spot in the XI. Barca believe their pitch has assuaged this fear.
