Barcelona stalwart Sergio Busquets is confident he’ll retire a one-club man after he completed 500 matches for his boyhood club.

Busquets, 30, reached the milestone during the weekend’s 1-1 draw in La Liga at Atletico Madrid. This saw him join the likes of Xavi and Andres Iniesta – both now playing in Asia – in an exclusive club.

Speaking to SPORT, the midfielder appeared poised to stick with the Catalans until he retires.

“I think I will be,” he replied when asked about whether he will be a one-club man. “It is true that in current football when players leave the top level in Europe they do have the chance to go to other exotic leagues, a bit different.”

Busquets has won 28 trophies since his debut in 2008.
