Barcelona left-back Jordi Alba has been omitted from the last two Spain squads despite showing solid form for the Catalan giants this campaign.

But contrary to public opinion, the 29-year-old insists he enjoy a healthy relationship with national team boss Luis Enrique.

“He always helped me. He has always seemed a very good person to me, I have never had a problem with him,” Alba said.

When asked about the reason for his omission from the last two Spain squads, the former Valencia star was adamant that there is nothing but mutual request between the two and neither owed an apology.

“Neither of us need to apologise for anything,” he said.

“There wasn’t a meeting or a phone call for me to return.

“We don’t have to forget the past because nothing ever happened with us, we never argued.

“He knows me personally and I know him.

“I repeat that he helped me so much during his time [at Barcelona].

“I can tell you about all the good things.

“There is nothing bad to say.”
