Hear what head coach Ernesto Valverde had to say about extending his Barcelona contract

Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde has insisted he doesn’t “care” about his expiring contract, as he’s concentrating on a pair of imminent clashes against Inter Milan and Real Madrid.

Valverde, 54, inked a two-year deal upon arrival from Athletic Bilbao in May 2017. He won the Copa del Rey and La Liga double in his debut season, plus the Catalans lead the 2018/19 table after Saturday’s 4-2 win against Sevilla.

Wednesday’s Champions League meeting with Inter and Sunday’s El Clasico are next on his agenda, rather than negotiating fresh terms.

“My future at Barca does not matter to me, I do not care,” said Valverde.

“I’m focused on the two matches that come and the noise that there is always around the team is the usual and you cannot do anything.”

Valverde has won 49 out of his 71 matches in charge of Barca.
