Barcelona winger Malcom has admitted he “did not expect” a debut call-up by Brazil for next month’s friendlies.

Malcom, 21, has been nursing an ankle problem in recent weeks. But the summer buy from Bordeaux was still named by head coach Tite for the clashes against Saudi Arabia (October 12) and Argentina (October 16).

“For any Brazilian player, it is a dream to reach the national team, to represent your country is an honour,” he told Barca TV.

“I am very happy, I did not expect it now but I am very happy.

“I hope to be able to give a lot of joy to the Brazilian fans, it is very gratifying to be able to represent your country.”

Malcom appeared in five matches for Brazil on the way to losing the 2015 U-20 World Cup final to Serbia.
