5:46pm – Pique won’t make same mistake as Puyol when it comes to retirement

Gerard Pique insists he won’t make the same mistake as Barcelona legend Carles Puyol when it comes to his retirement.

The 31-year-old Pique remains a reliable presence in Ernesto Valverde’s side and is tied to a contract through to 2022, but he is wary of following the lead of former team-mate Puyol by setting an end date for his playing days.

Barcelona are looking to swoop in ahead of Liverpool and sign Adrien Rabiot, French newspaper L’Equipe claim.

Adrien Rabiot is a target for Barcelona.

12:45pm – Rafinha set to stay

Barcelona midfielder Rafinha Alcantara is set to stay at the Camp Nou this season with Inter Milan unlikely to table a bid, according to the Spanish club’s international transfer director Ariedo Braida.
