Barcelona finish bottom of International Champions Cup table

Barcelona have propped up this year’s International Champions Cup table after a series of high-profile friendlies this summer between 18 of the biggest clubs in Europe.

Blaugrana recorded just two points from their three pre-season run-outs stateside, drawing their opener against Tottenham last month (before winning on penalties) and going down 4-2 to Serie A Roma in Texas.

An injury-time strike by AC Milan’s Andre Silva then sunk them in their final match.

It has to be said though that Barca’s work in the US heat was mainly done without a clutch of first-team stars, including Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez, just two of several players who were afforded longer breaks after the World Cup.

Overall, Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham topped the table with seven points while Borussia Dortmund, Inter Milan and Premier League duo Liverpool and Arsenal also enjoyed good campaigns.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid finished sixth.
