The departure of Cristiano Ronaldo from Real Madrid won’t just be felt at the Bernabeu, it will also be felt at Camp Nou and elsewhere in La Liga.

Barcelona will no longer have to go against the Portuguese star in La Liga, but boss Ernesto Valverde praised Ronaldo’s impact on the rivalry between the Spanish giants.

“We have to recognise Cristiano for everything he’s done all of these years,” Valverde said. “The great player that he is, what he brought to La Liga, to Madrid. He’s been a great rival to us and everyone.”
