New Barcelona star Clement Lenglet couldn’t be prouder to have joined the club – and admits it is a bonus that he’ll never have to defend against Lionel Messi in La Liga ever again.

Barca activated the 23-year-old’s €35.9 million release clause to whisk him away from Sevilla earlier this month.

And the defender, who will form a defensive unit with French countryman Samuel Umtiti and Spanish star Gerard Pique at the Nou Camp, has expressed what Barca means to him.

“Barça’s philosophy is unique and doesn’t change,” he told Barca TV.

Lenglet was also quick to express happiness at the fact that he’ll not have to face Argentina wizard Messi anymore.

“I am really happy to be here, because I don’t have to play against them now!” he said.

“Messi is the best in the world. He dominates games easily and can score at any moment from wherever he wants.

”If you have some luck, you can stop him a little bit, but then someone else catches you out.”
