Barcelona‘s appeal against Sergi Roberto’s controversial red card in El Clasico has been turned down.

The right-back was slapped with a four-game ban after an incident involving him and Real Madrid star Marcelo during the 2-2 draw.

Roberto has already missed two games for the La Liga winners – against Villarreal and Levante, but the Spanish FA’s Appeals Committee’s decision now means he will have to sit out for the next two games as well.

He is expected to not play a part in Barca’s final league game against Real Sociedad and the first leg of the Spanish Super Cup against Sevilla next season.

Barca though, can still appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport in the next 15 days.
