Barcelona midfielder Denis Suarez has been ruled out for two to three weeks after sustaining a hamstring injury during the Supercopa de Catalunya.

Having been named by Ernesto Valverde in the starting line-up against Espanyol, Suarez had to come off at half-time and was replaced by Cristian Rivera.

The 24-year old has been in and out of the squad due to injuries, and is often overlooked as Valverde opts for Paulinho or Andre Gomes to fit alongside Barca’s midfield of Andres Iniesta, Sergio Busquets and Ivan Rakitic. Philippe Coutinho’s arrival too has made his road into the first team a tough ask.

Now Suarez will definitely take no part in Barca’s upcoming games against Malaga, Chelsea and Athletic Club.
