While the club’s record goalscorer delivered yet another stellar performance against Sevilla, scoring a brace in Barcelona’s 3-0 win, he took a few more steps towards further greatness in terms of his goal statistics.

His goals at the Nou Camp have now taken his tally of goals for Barca to 496 in official matches, just four away from an historic 500th. And the little magician is aged just 29, you would reckon there’s plenty more to come.

What’s more is that Messi’s favourite La Liga opponent is again Sevilla, against whom he has scored a massive 29 goals (in all competitions).

Including friendlies and unofficial fixtures, Messi actually reached 500 Barca goals last November – but now he is close to the milestone in the matches that firmly count in the history books.
