If Barcelona fans were hoping for an instant reaction from their team after the embarrassing 4-0 loss to PSG in the Champions League last week, they were left somewhat disappointed.

A scrappy display saw the Catalan giants pull out a 2-1 win over Leganes, but did little to ease the gloom surrounding the club since the defeat in Paris.

Lionel Messi was Barcelona’s saviour once again, grabbing both goals, including an 89th-minute penalty to seal the victory. Although there was little else to write home about from the Barcelona players, Samuel Umtiti stepped up to deliver a solid display.

The young defender has settled in smoothly after moving from Lyon last summer, and on Sunday he produced a sterling performance, setting a new record for completed passes in a game this season.

What did you think of Umtiti’s performance against Leganes?
