Coach Cosmin Olaroiu has been rewarded for Al Ahli’s AFC Champions League progression with a two-year contract extension until 2018.

Olaroiu, 46, was pictured signing the deal alongside CEO Ahmed Khalifa on the club’s Twitter account.

The Red Knights have experienced two contrasting seasons under the Romanian since his high-profile defection from Al Ain in July 2013.

His debut campaign featured a glorious treble of the Arabian Gulf League, Arabian Gulf Cup and Arabian Gulf Super Cup, but only a clubfirst progression to the ACL quarter-finals made up for a miserable top-flight defence in 2014/15 where they finished seventh.

Meanwhile, Ahli have been linked in the Turkish press with a €10 million (Dh41.4m) offer for Besiktas striker Demba Ba.
