The hunt for Sami Al Jaber’s successor as Al Wahda boss will not begin in earnest until the make-up of their board is decided in the next “two to three days”.

A raft of changes are expected to sweep through Al Nahyan Stadium this summer after a tumultuous 2014/15 campaign. Monday (May 18) night saw the Clarets and Al Jaber announce a mutual parting of the ways after only four erratic months in charge when consensus about a future direction could not be reached.

This revolution is expected to reach the top of the club, chairman Ahmed Al Rumaithi’s position uncertain a year into his tenure. Similarly, the playing staff is also set to be switched up with foreign midfielders Damian Diaz and Adel Hermach both on their way out.

“Things will start to be decided in the next two to three days after the make up of the board is finalised,” a club official said. “Much more will become clear about the next coach from then. “We also expect both Adel Hermach and Damian Diaz to move on this summer.”

The Clarets began last season in a position of strength after previous coach Jose Peseiro achieved a superb third-placed Arabian Gulf League finish in 2013/14. But a schism developed between the board and the Portuguese, eventually leading to his shock February dismissal.

Saudi Arabia legend Al Jaber was named as replacement on a six-month contract, with an option for a further season.

The 42-year-old recovered from an awful start to finish fourth but last Thursday’s painful President’s Cup round-of-16 defeat to lower league Dubai Club proved terminal.

“I wanted to carry on, but only in a way that I could succeed,” Al Jaber tweeted. “The management also had had its own plans to take the club forward. “We could not reach an agreement on certain issues, so it was agreed not to renew the contract.”

In regards to players, Argentine playmaker Diaz is understood to favour a return to South America while Hermach will be sold with just a year left on his deal.
