Dibba Al Fujairah boss Paulo Comelli is braced for a vital basement battle when fellow pointless side Al Dhafra come to town.

A season-long battle against relegation already appears set for the Arabian Gulf League’s bottom two at Fujairah Stadium. Both have recorded a goal difference of minus-7 after three rounds.

Speaking before Thursday’s fixture, Comelli hopes “the advantage of playing at home” makes the difference.

He said: “I asked the players to focus completely and distance themselves from mistakes and lapses.

“They are determined to benefit from the advantage of playing at home and in front of the fans. This will help us achieve the first win and delight the masses.

“We need to restore confidence and correct our path. The status of the two teams is similar and the confrontation will be difficult.”

Other highlights this weekend include sorry Al Nasr’s attempt to belatedly get points on the board when they travel to Ittihad Kalba on Friday. Sharjah will aim to keep up their searing pace at home to the other promoted side, Fujairah.
