Al Ahli have reacted angrily to the six-month ban and Dh200,000 fine handed to goalkeeper Majed Naser for spitting at a referee during last week’s fiery 1-1 draw against arch-rivals Al Ain.
Naser, 30, was handed the punishment by the UAE Football Association’s disciplinary committee yesterday after they found he had spat at Yacoub Al Hammadi.
Al Ahli have declined to appeal but last night said they had “rejected the decision”.
The incident was sparked when Al Hammadi decided not to give a penalty and instead booked Ahli striker Carlos Munoz for diving.
Coach Cosmin Olaroiu was also deducted Dh10,000, in a slew of fines for the club totalling Dh262,000.
Naser has fallen foul of the authorities before, being banned for 17 matches while at Al Wasl for slapping then Ahli coach Quique Sanchez-Flores in 2012.
