Nasr ease to first AGL win of the season over Sharjah

Al Nasr secured their first win of the season with a 3-0 victory over Sharjah thanks to goals from Hassan Mohamed, Ali Al Ameri and debutant Ivan Trickovski at the Al-Maktoum Stadium

Hassan Mohamed, who replaced suspended striker Ibrahima Toure in the starting line-up gave the home team the lead after 28 minutes following fine work from Abdulla Qasem down the Nas right flank.

Qasem beat Shrajah left-back Abdulla Darwish with ease before squaring the ball across the face of goal for Hassan Mohamed to tap home from five yards out.

Sharjah’s task was made even more tricky after some woeful marking allowed Al Ameri to head home on the stroke of half-time. Mahmoud Khamis supplied the corner from the left and his whipped ball into the six-yard box was gleefully converted by the unmarked Al Ameri.

The visitors did start the second half in more positive fashion but Nasr continued to control the game from the hour mark and Ivan Jovanovic was able to introduce Trickovski with twenty minutes to play and the game seemingly won.

The summer signing looked lively in his brief cameo and supplied fellow substitute Jamal Ibrahim Hussain with Nasr’s best chance of the second half but the forward fired wide of the Sharjah goal when he should have scored.

Nasr’s night may have been made more uncomfortable moments later if Luan Michel de Louza’s effort had not been ruled out for offside in the build-up.

It wasn’t to be, however, and Trickovski’s placed finish from Hussain’s cutback four minutes from time sealed a convincing Nasr win.

In Sunday’s other early kick-off Amer Omar was the Al Wahda hero as his 93rd minute winner completed a sensational comeback for the visitors who had fallen behind to Emirates Club in the first-half.

Omar’s goal made it 2-1 in Wahda’s favour at the final whistle after Sebastian Tagliabue had cancelled out Luiz Henrique’s opener.

Wahda, who thumped AGL new boys Ittihad Kalba 5-0 in their first game, were firm favourites for the win but had to rely on the efforts of talismanic striker Tagliabue and Omar to rescue them from defeat.

The home side had earlier taken the lead on the stroke of half-time through Henrique’s second goal in as many games.
