Agent of Chile star Jorge Valdivia threatens to take Fujairah to FIFA

The agent of Chile international Jorge Valdivia has threatened to take Fujairah to FIFA after he claimed the Arabian Gulf League club revoked their contract with the midfielder.

Valdivia, who is a hero at Al Ain following two seasons in the Garden City, had arrived in Fujairah last month to sign a one-year deal having left Brazilian club Palmeiras.

The deal was expected to be signed and sealed, but the 30-year-old left the UAE without signing the contract, the club claimed.

A few days after Valdivia left the emirates, Fujairah announced the deal had collapsed after the two sides failed to agree on terms.

Valdivia was then unreachable, with agent Wagner Ribeiro revealing he was not able to get in contact with his client to clear up what went wrong with Fujairah.

While the picture had been painted that Valdivia had reneged on the deal with Fujairah, Ribeiro has insisted it in fact was the club that went back on the contract.

“We will go to Fifa and Fujairah will have to answer why they went back on the deal,” Ribeiro said in an interview with Brazilian website Globoesporte. “All this mess has been created by them.

“I am going to hire [lawyer] Marcos Motta to file a lawsuit against Fujairah because the contract was signed by all parties and we have a copy of it.

“Valdivia will hold a press conference soon to clarify everything and show the signed contract. He has done nothing wrong and he is being criticised unfairly.”

Ribeiro also insists that Valdivia had not gone AWOL but had left for vacation to the United States with Fujairah’s permission.

“Valdivia did nothing wrong and was released by his new club [Fujairah] for the 15-day vacation,” added Ribeiro. “Everything was agreed.

"I was in Paris negotiating with a French club when the deal was closed. Valdivia travelled to Fujairah, signed a contract, was introduced by the club, posed for photographs and signed autographs.

“After that, the transfer was rejected [by Fujairah] for absurd reasons, but we have a copy of the signed contract and we are going to present our case. There is a deal and Palmeiras should receive their money.”
