Newly-promoted Fujairah’s ambitious plans to make their mark upon their return to the Arabian Gulf League have continued after confirming they are in negotiations to bring Al Ain legend Jorge Valdivia back to the UAE.

Valdivia, 30, excelled during a trophy-laden two-year spell with the Boss before transferring back to Brazilian club Palmeiras four years ago.

The playmaker has continued to shine away from the Middle East, recently scoring for Chile in their 3-1 World Cup Group A victory against Australia.

Such performances have alerted Fujairah, with reports in South America stating a $7.5million (Dh27.5m) offer has put them ahead of a number of Italian teams in the race to secure Valdivia’s signature from Palmeiras.

“Until now we have not signed with Valdivia, and the negotiations are still going on at the moment,” the Fujairah Stadium outfit said on Twitter.
