Al Ahli complete signing of Al Ain midfielder Radoi

Arabian Gulf League champions Al Ahli have announced the signing of Romanian midfielder Mirel Rădoi following his release by rivals Al Ain.

In a short statement released on their official website, Al Ahli said: "Al Ahli Club have agreed a contract with Romanian midfielder Mirel Matei Rădoi. Al Ahli will hold a press conference at 9.45pm on Tuesday to reveal more about the details of Rădoi's deal."

The move will see Rădoi work with head coach Cosmin Olaroiu at a fourth club following spells together in Romania at Steaua București, Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal and in the UAE at Al Ain.

During their time together in the Garden City, the Romanian duo won back-to-back league titles.

Rădoi, who left Al Ain after three years, was deemed surplus to requirements after The Boss completed their foreign quota with the loan signing of Solvakian winger Miroslav Stoch, while opting to retain French forward Jires Kembo Ekoko, who spent last season on-loan in Qatar with El Jaish.

Prolific Ghanaian forward Asamoah Gyan and South Korean midfielder Lee Myung-Joo complete Al Ain's foreign quartet.

Rădoi's arrival will inevitably cast doubt over the future of Al Ahli's foreign players, although no indication has yet been made as to who will make way for the 33-year-old.

Club captain and talismanic striker Grafite recently signed a one-year contract extension so he is expected to stay, while Brazilian forward Ciel excelled in his first season at the Rashid Stadium following last summer's move from Al Shabab.

That leaves Portuguese midfielder Hugo Viana, who enjoyed a splendid debut campaign for Al Ahli, but the 31-year-old could make an imminent return to Europe.
