Al Ain are ready to ward off interest in World Cup-bound striker Asamoah Gyan by offering the Ghana star a bumper new deal.

Gyan, who was chased by several English Premier League clubs in January, is under contract in the Garden City for another two years.

Yet the club know some good performances in Brazil this summer would see his stock rise again so they are keen to lock him into a fresh deal until 2018.

And despite the 28-year-old insisting he would not discuss his future until after the World Cup, club officials are confident their star striker will put pen to paper.

“He has two years left and we have made a new contract for him to stay maybe for another two years,” board member Mohammed Obaid Al Dhaheri told Sport360°.

“I think he is happy to stay in the team and every time he has [been asked if] he wants to finish [his career] here in Al Ain, he’s said he is happy to stay. I think Gyan will stay next year, sure.”

Al Dhaheri added: “He has two years left on his contract and we have offered two years more.

“To stay six years I think for him is a good time for a professional player to stay.” Gyan has been an unparalleled success in the UAE following his initial loan move from Premier League side Sunderland in 2011.

The Ghanaian has gone on to score 104 goals in all competitions, and Al Dhaheri is confident there will be plenty more to come.

“He likes it here and he is happy here in Al Ain. I think any player who comes would be happy,” he said.

If Gyan does remain at Al Ain next season he will be joined by a host of new recruits.

Lee Myung-joo and Rashed Essa were both unveiled in the Garden City last night, while the 11-time UAE champions hope to conclude deals for two further foreign players within the next week.

The Boss are also in negotiations with Serie A side Roma, and three Brazilian clubs, over the permanent sale of Michel Bastos, who arrived from Lyon last summer.
