Al Jazira and Al Ain moved back into contention for Asian Champions League qualification with vital victories on Monday.

Jazira claimed their first AGL win since February and moved to fourth, as first-half goals from Abdelaziz Barrada (right) and Abdulla Qasem saw off Bani Yas.

Barrada scored from the penalty spot after an Abdulsalam Al Mukhaini foul, while Qasem converted the simplest of chances to double the lead at 2-0.

Al Ain’s resurgence under new coach Zlatko Dalic continued with a crucial 3-1 win against Al Sharjah, thanks to a late brace from Asamoah Gyan.

Shahin Abdulrahman had put Sharjah ahead from a corner and it took until the 71st minute for the Boss to respond, with Ibrahim Diaky’s low strike opening the floodgates.

Gyan’s double kept him level with Al Wahda’s Sebastian Tagliabue on 26 goals in the AGL.

Jazira are now a point behind third-placed Wahda in the final ACL qualification spot, with Al Ain two points further back.

At the other end of the table, Dubai dropped down to Division 1 Group A after Ahmed Jumaa struck an 88th-minute equaliser for already-relegated Al Shaab.

Ajman secured a 3-1 victory against Al Nasr as Bakari Kone, Simon Pierre Feinduono and Boris Kabi struck for the hosts.

German Gustavo Herrera found an 88th-minute equaliser for Emirates at 10-man Al Wasl, with both sides now secure in the top flight after the 1-1 draw.
