A decorative star will adorn the shirts of any Arabian Gulf League club to win five domestic titles during the professional era.

The decision was one of a number of new proposals made as the Pro League Committee’s executive office met for the second time at its Zayed Sports City headquarters on July 2.

It was decided a decorative star will be permitted to be placed above the club crest on the shirt of any club to accomplish the achievement of winning a quintet.

Al Ain and Al Ahli are currently joint level with three top-flight titles each since the league became professional eight years ago.

The Boss and Red Knights have won six of the eight trophies since the 2008/09 campaign, with Al Jazira and Al Wahda also winning one title apiece.

The UAE’s top flight was founded in 1973 and Al Ain have the overall best record with 12 titles, while Ahli are tied with Al Wasl for second place with seven.

At the same meeting the executive office also adopted several new proposals for the forthcoming season, including a new financial policies and a procedures manual.

In other news, the PLC has announced an open tender for suppliers of LED perimeter billboards to be used in all stadia during competitions organised by the PLC, including the Arabian Gulf League, Arabian Gulf Cup, Arabian Gulf Super Cup and Under-21 League.

LED suppliers wishing to submit their bids must do so via email on led.bid@agleague.ae.

The deadline for submitting applications is Sunday, July 10.
