A tug-of-war involving former Lebanon boss Bucker eventually saw the German accept the job of head coach at Emirates Club earlier this month. Dibba had announced at the beginning of June that they had agreed a contract extension with Bucker, only for him to be unveiled by the Falcons days later.

The Fishermen posted a picture of Sergio on their Twitter feed Tuesday with the simple message ‘Portuguese. Paulo Sergio, coach of Dibba Al Fujairah’.

This would indicate that their disappointment over the Bucker furore now seems to have been quelled with the impending arrival of the 48-year-old Sergio, who has enjoyed short-lived spells with Cluj in Romania, APOEL in Cyprus and Academica in his homeland since resigning from Hearts in 2012.

Sergio was often in hot water with the Scottish authorities during his time at Tynecastle but left a hero in May 2012 after he led Hearts to a memorable 5-1 hammering of Edinburgh rivals Hibernian at Hampden Park in the Scottish Cup.

Meanwhile, Bani Yas have announced the signing of local players Omar Al Rashidi and Yousef Hzam.

The Sky Blues tweeted pictures of both players being presented and they join Abdullah Al Noubi, Amer Omar and Faisal Al Khidem who were all signed at the beginning of June.

Elsewhere, AGL new boys Hatta have signed Mohammed Jamal.
