Emirates Club midfielder Renan Garcia has declared his team-mates are prepared to “give their lives” in the battle to stay in the Arabian Gulf League.

The Falcons picked up what could prove to be a priceless point in a goalless draw at AFC Champions League-chasing Al Wahda on Saturday.

This took Emirates on to 23, four above second-bottom Fujairah who were beaten heavily by neighbours Dibba Al Fujairah on Friday to remain stuck in the drop zone.

Garcia, 29, admitted that result boosted the Falcons, but he claims they need to focus on their own performances, with boss Paulo Comelli’s men facing on-song Dibba on Friday.

“We come here after Fujairah lost, so we are more relaxed for the next game against Dibba,” said the former Al Nasr player.

“We must give our lives for the next game. When they (Fujairah) don’t get points of course we are happy. But we are thinking of our job first. If we do that, then we don’t need to think or worry about any other teams.”

Emirates contained a talented Wahda side, featuring the likes of AGL top scorer Sebastian Tagliabue. Brazilian Garcia praised the fight shown against the Clarets and insisted this desire will remain for the rest of the season.

He said: “The result gives us energy and confidence to stay in the league. We never think we will go down really — I think we are too good to go down.

“We are making chances and we can play much better. But Wahda are a good team and are fighting for third place and have just won a cup, so it was not going to be an easy game.

“One point for us here is very important. I believe in my team and we showed we can fight.”
