Al Ain right-back Mohammed Fawzi feels sorry for the rest of the Arabian Gulf League as he dreads to think what flying new team-mate Danilo Asprilla would do to him.

Asprilla, 27, has impressed for the champions during his pair of appearances since a €2.5 million (Dh 9.9) move from Bulgaria’s Litex Lovech.

The Colombian winger raced through for the winner at Al Dhafra on debut and provided a turbo-charged assist for Mohamed Abdulrahman’s opener in Saturday’s 3-0 thrashing of Al Wasl.

“Dani is very difficult,” UAE regular Fawzi, 25, said while laughing. “He is so difficult to mark. I am glad I do not have to play against him. If I did, I do not know what he would do to me.”

The weekend clash also saw new striker Douglas, 28, clinically score on his Boss debut. Fawzi was impressed with the replacement for Emmanuel Emenike. He said: “Douglas has added goals to the team. I hope he will score more goals in the next game, Inshallah.

“We have big confidence in him. Before we had Emenike and he was very good. But now we are looking forward with Douglas. We are happy to have him.”

The victory maintained Al Ain’s three-point lead over Al Ahli, who registered a 3-0 triumph of their own against Emirates Club. Fawzi believed the new addition would inspire the club to maintain their high standards.

He said: “First of all, Hamdullah for three points. We are happy to have new, good players. They are pushing the team forward and we are pushing them forward to achieve success. We only care about oursevles in the title race – we are looking for success.”
