Arsenal star Cazorla inspired by Barca hero Iniesta

09:48 04/12/2013

Arsenal star Santi Cazorla has spoken of his admiration for Andres Iniesta by revealing how he models the game on the Barcelona superstar.

Cazorla joined Arsenal from Malaga in the summer and has made an immediate impact at the Emirates Stadium.

Despite being in the early stages of his Gunners career, pundits are already suggesting he is better than former captain and compatriot Cesc Fabregas, while boss Arsene Wenger has hailed him as “the signing of the season.”

The 27-year-old was involved in his country’s 1-1 draw with France last night, coming on as a sub for injured Manchester City man David Silva before Cazorla’s club team-mate Olivier Giroud rescued a late point for Les Bleus.

And Cazorla has said that he follows the example set by international team-mate Iniesta, after admitting that the Barca star is the perfect role model for all footballers.

He told Spanish newspaper Marca: “Iniesta is the standard against which I measure myself, playing by his side is something else. He’s a total footballer in every sense.

“I try to copy the things he does, but it’s very difficult. The problem is that when he does them he makes them look easy, but then you try it and you get all tangled up. Andres is a role model on and off the pitch.”
