Borussia youngster flattered by Tottenham interest

09:47 04/12/2013

Highly-rated German winger Patrick Herrmann has admitted he is flattered by the reports linking him with a move to Tottenham but insists he is not currently interested in leaving his club.

Herrmann, 21, cemented his place in the Borussia Monchengladbach first-team last season and impressed with a return of six goals and seven assists from 22 Bundesliga starts.

The midfielder has continued his rise in German football throughout the start of this campaign, and his high-quality displays have led to reports linking him with a January move to Premier League side Tottenham.

Hermann has admitted that he is aware of the reports but insisted he is yet to hear anything concrete from Spurs, while adding he is happy at Monchengladbach and has no interest in leaving any time soon.

“I have heard about that. I read papers,” Herrmann told Rheinische Press. “Of course, those sums are somewhat flattering.

“You don’t have to overrate it. My agents did not tell me anything about it. That’s just rumours.

“I am happy about the praise. But why should I leave now? I feel great here. And the last season was great fun, we played beautiful football.

“We want to return to that now and are on the right path.”
