  • Edin Dzeko sent out a timely reminder of his capabilites to Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini with a deadly hat-trick in Bosnia’s 8-1 thrashing of Liechtenstein in their World Cup qualifying opener.

The 26-year-old has played a bit-part role for City since joining from Wolfsburg in a £27million deal in 2011, but remains integral to Bosnia’s hopes of reaching a first ever World Cup finals.

Dzeko, on the scoresheet for City in last weekend’s 3-0 win over Queens Park Rangers, continued his fine form with a second-half treble in Bosnia’s romp over their Group G.

Stuttgart striker Vedad Ibisevic also helped himself to a hat-trick while Dynamo Moscow playmaker Zvjezdan Misimovic netted twice.
