Al Wahda chairman, Abdullah Nasser Al Junaibi, believes the striker will prove to be an astute buy for the club, “He has got so much experience. He has played in the top leagues of Europe … in England, in [Italy] and also for his national team.
“He is a class player, tall with a lot of pace and high potency in front of the goal. So he is certainly a great addition to the squad and will add great value to the team.”
Waigo becomes Wahda’s third new signing f0llowing the signing earlier arrivals of Gabon international Eric Mouloungui on a free transfer from French club Nice and Jordanian midfielder Anas Bani Yaseen.
At Southampton, Waigo became a cult hero as a result of his bizarre goal celebration involving a strange dance routine. It proved popular among the fans and the “Waigo Dance” is the lasting memory they have of him.
Al Wahda, who released all four of their foreign players at the end of the season, will be expecting plenty of goals from their new signing and will no doubt enjoy some slick dance moves too.
Here’s what Wahda fans an expect from their new frontman.
