Feyenoord to tempt Liverpool’s Dirk Kuyt with coaching role

04:41 04/12/2013

Feyenoord are reportedly willing to offer Liverpool forward Dirk Kuyt a coaching role in their bid to lure their former star back to De Kuip this summer.

Kuyt, 31, is expected to be one of a host of names to depart Anfield this summer having confessed last month that he will consider his future at the end of the season having failed to tie down a regular first-team place under Kenny Dalglish.

Liverpool director of football Damien Comolli admitted recently that there the will be some comings and goings in the close season as the Reds look to fine tune a squad that has shone in domestic cup competitions but failed miserably to deliver in the Premier League this season.

Kuyt joined Liverpool from Feyenoord in 2006 having finished the 2004-2005 season as the top scorer in the Eredivisie with 29 goals. In his six seasons at Anfield, the Dutchman, still a vital part of Bert Van Marwijk’s Holland side, has chalked up 276 appearances and scored 71 goals.

He was linked with a January move to Galatasaray, but stayed put after reportedly rejecting the overtures of the Turkish side, going on to score a dramatic late winner in Liverpool’s FA Cup fourth round win over Manchester United that very same month.

His future, however, looks to be increasingly elsewhere, although whether he returns to his native Holland with Feyenoord remains to be seen as a host of clubs in Italy are believed to be keeping a close eye on his situation, with Fiorentina leading the pack.
