Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola confirmed star striker Sergio Aguero is “almost fit” and will travel with the rest of the squad for Saturday’s FA Cup semi-final against Brighton.

The Argentinian missed the midweek Premier League fixture against Cardiff owing to a lack of fitness, but could return.

Asked about Aguero at his Friday press conference, Guardiola said: “He is almost fit. He is travelling.”

Guardiola said he was close to making a decision on who would play at left-back, with Oleksandr Zinchenko out injured.

Bernard Mendy, who has only featured once for the first team since November, is fit but has found himself out of favour.

“Everybody has to help, not just Mendy,” Guardiola said.

“He has trained the last week, 10 days without problems.”
