The starting dates for the 2018/19 seasons of the Indian Super League and I-League have been revealed by the general secretary of the All India Football Federation (AIFF), Kushal Das.

The nation’s hosting of the FIFA U-17 World Cup last year meant the 2017/18 ISL season only kicked-off in late November but the league is set for an earlier start, in September, this time around.

“The ISL will begin on September 29 and the I-League will begin around October 15,” Das told Sportstar.

Meanwhile, Das also stated that the league would feature three international breaks over the course of its duration as the national team prepares for the 2019 Asian Cup in the UAE with two friendlies.

“The Indian team will travel to China to play a friendly against them in October and the other friendly (most likely against Saudi Arabia or Syria) will be played in November (between 12 and 20). We will have a break of four to five days then,” he said.

The league will also endure a month-long break during the Asian Cup which commences on January 5 and concludes on February 1 next year.
