Julian Nagelsmann is set to leave Hoffenheim at the end of next season for the opportunity to take over at the helm of RB Leipzig.

Hoffenheim announced via Twitter that their coach would leave next summer and their Bundesliga rival later tweeted that they would be his destination.

The highly-rated 30-year-old took over at Hoffenheim in October 2015, becoming the Bundesliga’s youngest coach, and led the club to a fourth-placed finish in his first full season in charge.

Last season, Hoffenheim climbed to third, leading to speculation that Nagelsmann would head elsewhere for the chance to coach a high-profile club.

“It was important to me to do this early to establish clarity in my relationships,” said Nagelsmann. “I owe it to the club and its employees – as well as the team and the fans – to ensure that this historic upcoming season, in which we will play Champions League football for the first time, does not become dominated by speculation about my future.

“Now that everyone is aware of how things stand, we can concentrate on the tough tests in a professional fashion. Everyone is aware that I will give everything for TSG until the very last second of my time here and will do everything to achieve our ambitious aims.”
