Chelsea have declared their interest in signing Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez and as you can imagine the shock development has drawn a myriad of reactions.

To paint the full picture, the saga started with Manchester City agreeing a £60million transfer last summer only for Arsenal’s failed bid to sign replacement Thomas Lemar from Monaco scuppering the deal last minute.

Pep Guardiola then returned this month but the overall cost of a move for the Chilean – believed to be around £60million including agent’s fee, signing-on bonus and the transfer bill – forced them to pull out.

That left Manchester United in pole position with reports on Monday suggesting personal terms had been agreed with just the structure of payment to Arsenal, whether it be inclusive of Henrikh Mkhitaryan or not, to be concluded.

But on the back of news City had pulled out of the race, Chelsea entered the running and it would seem they have plenty of work to do to catch up with United.
