Egypt condemned Intercontinental Beach Soccer Cup hosts UAE to a second defeat of the tournament on Wednesday as a late strike from Moustafa Shaaban earned the visitors a 4-3 win.

In a contest that swung back and forth, Egypt edged the latter stages and claimed the victory thanks to a stunning late strike from Shika, as the North Africans kept their hopes of progressing to the semi-finals from Group A alive.

UAE gave their home fans the perfect start when Haitham Alkaabi prodded in the opener from close range with just 17 seconds on the clock but Egypt were level soon after thanks to a tidy side-footed finish from Haitham Ataf.

The visitors were then in front courtesy of Mohamed Aly Hassan but UAE captain Walid Mohamed headed home to level matters.

A rare moment of quality from Hasham Almuntaser saw the host nation head into the break ahead.

Hassane Hussein levelled for Egypt four minutes into the second period in what proved a captivating contest and, having gone into the final 12 minutes all square at 3-3. Shika then rifled in the winner late on to seal his side’s first points of the tournament.
