DAYOT UPAMECANO

Manchester United and AC Milan are both interested in signing RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano, reports Calciomercato.

The 19-year-old has become a mainstay in the side after signing from RB Salzburg for €10million in January 2017 and has caught the attention of the two European giants.

RATING: 7/10

VERDICT

His four-year contract with the Bundesliga side apparently has a €100million release clause so good luck with bargaining over that.

Still, at 19, his age, potential and style make him one of the most promising young defenders in Europe and his measured aggression married to lightening-quick reactions mean his attributes suit the Premier League.

Keep an eye on this rumour.

RIYAD MAHREZ

Marseille are planning to swoop in for Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez, according to Mundo Deportivo.

The Algeria international was set to leave the Foxes in the summer but a fee couldn’t be agreed with Roma with Marseille now hoping to prize him away for a fee of £26.5million.

RATING: 7/10

VERDICT

A consummate pro throughout the summer despite the ongoing tug-of-war, Mahrez deserves credit for how he has handled his future but the talented 26-year-old deserves more than what he is getting at Leicester.

Ligue 1 may be his next destination but whether that’s Marseille or another club remains to be seen.

JULIAN BRANDT

Bayer Leverkusen youngster Julian Brandt is attracting the interest of Barcelona, according to ESPN.

The 21-year-old has been deeply impressive for the Bundesliga outfit and recently described rumours the La Liga giants have scouted him as “an honour”.

RATING: 6/10

VERDICT

He certainly fits the Barca mould as Brandt is a player with quick feet and fluidity in his movement but he’s not the finished article just yet.

Regardless, the big clubs will come circling and it seems a matter of when not if he leaves Bayer.
