Ryan Giggs wants patience after recent Man United criticism

Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs has called for patience after recent criticism of Jose Mourinho’s defensive tactics.

United held bitter rivals Liverpool to a 0-0 draw at Anfield and followed that up with a fortunate victory in a dour 1-0 victory over Benfica in midweek.

But with Mourinho’s men sitting second in the Premier League just two points off Manchester City and having taken maximum points in Europe, Giggs says good results are more important.

“As a Manchester United fan you want to see your team go out and attack and you want to see them go out and entertain but sometimes it doesn’t happen for whatever reason,” he said.

“I think going away to Anfield, going away to the Stadium of Light against Benfica and getting a win and a draw, at anytime in the last 30 or 40 years are good results.

“Now, how long you can get away with that, I don’t know, but I think we’re in a good place at the moment.

“Nine points in the Champions League, up there in the Premier League only second to City, so we’re good at the moment.

“We’ve scored a lot of goals this year, it’s just the last couple of games we’ve had the criticism but the results will come and that’s what matters.”
